...call to hair follicles?

I need suggestions for a new haircut. I'm lining it up with my 10 year coughcough High School reunion next week (because in the immortal words of [livejournal.com profile] crushjunky and Missy Misdemeanor Elliot, I should get my hairrrrrrr did.)

This is what my hair looks like on a good day. I like it a lot, but it's a ridiculous amount of maintenance, and I've seen lots of photos where the length of the bangs is very unflattering for my face.

...Of course, I haven't had it cut in awhile, so it's all grown out and I'm reduced to putting what little hair I have in a stubby little pony and letting the bangs hang out all over the place, trying to give the impression that "of course I wanted it to look this way!"

I'm looking at any of these cuts, which are all pretty much the same thing, and I'm not sure I picked these photos as ones I like because I like the CUT or because all the models have the same hair color as I do, making it easy for me to envision the cuts on my head.

I like looks that are choppy, preferably done with a razor and flatironed. Not such a fan of the "Classy" bob, Allison Janney circa The West Wing. Does anyone have any additional suggestions?

The bottom one would look really hot on you.

I like that one too, but maybe you're liking it so much because the GIRL underneith the hair is really hot?

Honestly, I think you are prettier than that girl.

Thirded.

I was also going to suggest looking at the cut they have on the woman who plays Alice in the Twilight/New Moon movies. It's a little more flippy.

I'm going to bring the photos above, but a shot of your girl Alice. Thanks for the heads up on that, I'm totally in the dark with that Werewolf/Vampire tween vehicle.

My friend invited me to go see it with her Thursday, and I'll go see almost any movie. I kept thinking how adorable her hair was the whole time.

i think a good stylist would take these 3 pictures and morph them together (they are, you're right, practically the same cut). and i think they would look great on you.

i'm growing out my inverted bob, and lord a'mercy, i don't expect it to look good for like a year.

Yeah man, this grow out period is a total bitch. I just keep looking for different "Doable" styles on the way down. Me and my hot rollers have become very friendly.

I'm doing a lot of this lately. Minus the Asian baby.
no shorties here

part of why i'm growing mine out is because my hair naturally waves/curls now. gotta love getting old and your body doing whacked out shit. but my curly-bobs never look that cute.

I like the top picture, the girl in the silver top. I'm sure the puffiness, which I don't love, would come down under normal washing and blowdrying circumstances. And I like the demarcation of bangs vs rest of hair, rather than one continuous thing, which I think can look kind of dated. Is your hair curly at all? I know a girl who has a similar haircut, with curly hair, and it looks ADORABLE. I can't deal with long bangs, I hate it when they get to my eyebrows, but it looks so cute on other people.

Yes, exactly. I'm totally NOT into the puffiness of that cut. Or any cut, really. I HATE puffy hair. I stay away from any product offering more volume, for instance, the absolutely ridiculous yet very popular in my homeland BumpIts. Anyway, what I like about that one (who is that girl? Is she a recording artist, since the photo was obviously snapped at the Grammys) is its CHOPPINESS. I like it. I don't' know if my poor color damaged follicles will go for it, but I like it.

i'm a bad person. i think you look adorbs in the stubby pony and bangs. it's modern as all get out.

Well, thanks. It's modern but I'm serious when I say the stubby pony is a little pathetic. It sticks straight out in the back like my hair got confused which way is up. Luckily for you, it'll do this again when it grows out, regardless of the cut.

My ex is gonna be there. I gotta look fly.
