T to the R-I-B-E-C-A
May. 14th, 2004 01:52 amSo, film festival events I "Red-Carpeted" include that Olsen Twins trainwreck of a film, "NY Minute", a NYFD documentary about 9/11, The new Billy Crudup/Claire Daines period piece, and some other films I either can't think of or I was too busy working the carpet [wow that sounds dirty] to watch.
The smartest idea TFF ever came up with was the Tribeca Drive-In. No real cars, of course, but we rented out a pier off the West Side Highway, rolled out 2000 square feet of real grass sod to create a "Lawn" in front of an actual drive-in screen. There's bleachers/chairs for the non-loungers. American Express sponsors the free popcorn, GM sponsors the free cookies, and the Starbucks baristas come 'round with mini fraps-- yummy! I LOVED the Drive In. it was a great way to close in the evening, mellowing out on the grass after the hectic day of running all over manhattan looking for a gross of cheap disposable cameras or some other random thing. And all the free snacks. mmmm, snacks...

mmm, Drive In. It should go on all summer long, instead of just during the festival. Maybe next year.
