It's time to talk about a very special relationship I have with a very special someone.
He helps me start my morning with a smile.
He's an excellent companion.
And we've never talked to each other. not once.
he's my COMMUTER BOYFRIEND, and he's great.
we have the same soiree almost every morning. we meet on the platform for the downtown 6 around 8:40. I always have my ipod and my sunglasses, he always has his skateboard and a camo baseball hat. We both take the same car down 1 stop, and exit side by side from the same staircase, at which time, I jay walk across 50th street, and he starts to cut toward third ave on his skateboard, usually attempting a grind on the curb or a jump of some kind about half way down the block.
I watched him do this every day for about a week- because hey, come on, watching a guy skateboard into corporate america is fun, and then one day a few weeks ago, he did a jump,
and he looked back at me to see that I saw.
when he saw me up the street smiling at him, he smiled back, took another jump, and rounded the corner.
that's when I KNEW we were an item.
since then, I've learned his name [josh] and the address of where he works [50th street], courtesy of his plastic ID badge.
we do this same routine every morning, and frankly, I find it a lovely way to start the day, with a smile from a familiar face. and some sweet skateboard jumps.
Yesterday though, I think we started to get serious.
When he turned the corner yesterday morning, he stopped and WAITED for me at the door of his building, then smiled as I passed, and went inside.
I think by next week, we'll be engaged! or maybe have said hi to each other. one of those two.

furboajerboa, I found out that she had a commuter boyfriend of her own. So maybe this isn't such a rare occurance. Does anyone else have a commuter significant other?
