I had the callback last night for this folklore play that's going up at an off broadway theatre in October. Originally [at least according to the casting director], this was supposed to be a cut and dry deal, with one round of auditions, but apparently they had trouble making a decision for their romantic female lead, so they had to hold another round for the girls.

I'm never nervous for auditions. My philosophy on them is the same as the MTA's about not running for the trains - another one will be along in a minute.

Last week's audition was a lot of fun. The guy playing the lead has already been cast, and they sent me the sides with plenty of time to prepare, so the audition was much more like an acting class with a scene partner. I expected the same from this week's callback, except for some more intensly written scenes.

I showed up to the rehearsal studio, and when the monitor handed me the sign in sheet, I saw the list of the other girls who were being called back.

Of the 8 girls listed, I knew 4 of them.

One of whome was my boss at Tribeca Film Festival last year. Another one who was one of the strongest actors in my program at school.
So NOW, i'm a little nervous. But, I try to forget about it, and as soon as I'm in the room with the people running the audition, I do.

I'm nervous NOW that it's over, though. I know I did my best, but, given the people who are ALSO up for this part, I could totally understand why they wouldn't go with me as their choice.

*UPDATE* The producer just called. I GOT THE PART!!!
