Having professed his undying and unrequited love for me in the comment thread of this entry, and egged on by furboajerboa, who, though she loves egging more than anything, is probably just trying to get me a date, incomple decided to write me a love song. About eating pancakes. Just not with Matthew.

if by "fucking terrible", you mean it's fucking terrible that you're not special enough to get songs written about you, and you're insanely jealous right about now, then yes, you're completely correct.

In the convention circuit, the act of taking popular songs and parodying them is called "filking". There are folks who are well known in the con circles for doing only that.

As far as was explained to me, it extended beyond sci-fi, into pretty much all areas of fandom. I could be wrong, however. I'd like to know for my own edification.
